Location. Santa Maria Village on Milos Island, Greece
Adamas or Adamantas is the main port of Milos and among the safest shelters of the Aegean Sea. The village was established around 1835 by refugees from Sfakia Crete. It has traditional architecture with white houses, paved streets and lovely churches. Along the seaside street of Adamantas, there are shops, bars, fish taverns and cafeterias with great view to the sea.
Adamas is a nice base for excursions around Milos as it is close to some picturesque villages, including Klima, Plaka and Mandrakia. Buses depart from Adamas to various spots around Milos and boats leave to make the round of the island. Among the sights to see in Adamas are the Mineralogical Museum and the Ecclesiastical Museum inside the church of Holy Trinity, while the famous Catacombs of Milos are only 5 km away.
